Calendar Blocks

What BEAUTIFUL weather we had here in Toronto this weekend! 14 on both days, and 18 for today! woo hoo, bring on the sunshine! A little treat for us here before it starts to get chilly.

Anyhoo, for the project today, I wanted to share with you today got my hands super sticky and messy. I wanted to get a head start on some simple gifts to give out for Aiden's teacher, so I had this blank wooden calendar block that has been in my studio for a very long time. At first I was going to make a whole bunch of these for Caregiver Appreciation Day, but by the time I went back to the local dollar store, there weren't any blank ones left.

Since I already had my Simply Modern Designer Paper out from the previous card, I decided to just continue to use it.
It was very easy to decorate, but yes it was a little bit messy. I ran out of Tombow Adhesive after the first piece of DSP, so I had to use modgepode instead. Using my sponge brush I applied the Modgepodge on each side all the way to the edge to ensure that the DSP would stay put and not come off after use. Since ModgePodge dries clear its ok to go off the edges :)

Tip* To get the meaurements perfect on the inside and the curve, I used a measuring tape, I wanted to only have to cut all my paper pieces once.

After I finished covering all the sides to the block holder, I felt it was still missing a little something something, so I decided to add 1/2" strips of DSP to each end of the Month options. That made me a happy camper :)

This gift used very little of my designer paper, required almost no skill at all (for those who are just starting on papercrafting), was very quick to do, and also very cost effective! This would be great for mass production.
I wonder how I would give this away, in a box? no box? any ideas? I think I may also add more to this, make a bundled gift. hmmm, we'll see.
Who knows...maybe after the Vaughan Of A Kind Show on November 21st, we can finally start my Stamper's Club and maybe this can be our project for January??? whatchu think?

So on a last note, dont forget, the Vaughan Of a Kind Show is less than 2 weeks away on Saturday November 21st. I hope to see you there!
